Incendiary
The sadness associated with a terrible loss can be the undoing of some and the rebirth of others. In "Incendiary," directed by Sharon McGuire, who also wrote the screenplay, the young mother, played by Michelle Williams, may experience a bit of both in this morality play that endeavors to investigate the twin brothers of terrible human loss and the random, insane acts of Muslim terrorists under the command of Osama bin Laden.Jasper Black, played by Ewan McGregor, has a chance encounter with a the married young mother, and is spared from the cruel terrorist bombing at an English Football match, when he elects to be with her rather than go to the game. The young mother's son and husband perish in the attack and the mother is understandably guilt ridden to the point irreparable distraction. Her profound loss leads her to seek resolution, but resolution is not easily at hand for the poor wife, but loving mother.
On can tell that while the mother is an affectionate one, she is poorly educated and unable to reconcile the complexities of her terrible situation juxtaposed against the terrorist's thirst for innocent English blood, especially the children's. The film accomplishes some resolution, and thankfully at 96 minutes of runtime, one does not have to wait too long.
Rated R. Released on DVD May 5, 2009.
