Confessions of a Shopaholic

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Let me be clear about one thing: I like Isla Fisher. I have liked her since the "Wedding Crashers," when she shined as the wacked-out little sister who wound up with the fast talking Vince Vaughn. I liked her in "Confessions of a Shopaholic," but my likes end pretty much at that point.

Director P. J. Hogan's movie moves briskly forward, I am just not in tow. Maybe it is that I do not sympathize with "shopaholics," or that the characters in the film were altogether not sympathetic. I'm not sure. Can't put my finger on it.

Maybe the film was just not that funny, or inspiring. I just can't understand why I would want to see this picture again at 104 minutes, or for the first time - if it were not my job.

The other actors were fine. It was just a very weak story for me. Maybe it would be perfect for the detached "shopaholic" looking for the ideal "shopping experience" in a movie.

It just all seems too shallow for my consideration.

Rated PG. Released on DVD June 23, 2009.
