Hunt for Justice

Hunt for Justice

I rented this little picture for two reasons: It was about a subject that has received far too little attention - the civil war within the former Yugoslavia (also known as the Bosnian War, from 1992 - 1995), and it was only 90 minutes in length. The film dealt with the most significant issue of this terrible conflict - the war crimes of genocide of that civilian population of indigenous Bosnians and Croatians.

It is the story the Justice by the prosecution of the most significant war criminals, such as Slobodan Milosevic', by interested parties, including the United States and Canada. Canadian Justice Louise Arbour, played Wendy Crewson, sought these war criminals, and this is her story of justice served in a very terrible time in the recent history of eastern Europe, after the fall of the Soviet Union. The film was made for Canadian television, but has a cinematographic feel of a big screen picture.

The acting is serviceable, but nothing spectacular. William Hurt has a small role as a British general, but his performance is marred by his accent, which sounded more like a German speaking English with a British Accent. As someone from the South, I am always offended by an actor who ruinously speaks the dialect and diction indigenous to any class of people from any region, or more particularly, any country badly.

John Corbett (Chris from "Northern Exposure:" The greatest television show of all time) as an American British Army Captain John Tanner is the best of the lot.

All in things considered, if you enjoy the machinations of current events as they unfold into the history of who we are, you may find this picture worth you time.

Not Rated. Released on DVD November 7, 2006.
