Publisher's note: I have initiated this new segment on BCN, where I determine the Best Music Ever ... and, 'with a little help from my friends'. I do this from my opinion, for what that is worth, where I will measure the best music that I am familiar with.
I do this for two reasons: 1) I want to expose the best music that I know to the rest of us. 2) Popular Music today may be the very worst it has ever been, and that is saying much, since I lived through Disco. For a list of all of the contributions to this series, please click here. As previously mentioned, there will be others who share their favorites with our BCN readers, in particular here, Bobby Tony. Duelings Hits - Disco ????? As I wind down the series, I just had to present a couple of the Disco songs of the era. I have never been a dancer past the jitterbug era and never could learn the later other dances of the 60-70's including the John Travolta moves. I have included two that I think might represent some decent music but I am sure there are others and some who will say there were no good songs in Disco. I would even go so far as to say the Bee Gee's had some good music. The put down of Disco reminds me of my children who loved Billy Ray Cyrus ---Achy Breaky Heart when they were 9 & 11, and then tried to forget who he was when they were 16 & 18. I keep ABH on my Itunes "CHATT" playlist for our trips to Chattanooga to visit my brother. When it starts, my daughter always says, "DaaaaaaD turn that off". So it is with Disco. First up is Donna Summer and the engaging " Last Dance" And a good reason why Old men should not try to relive their youth. KC and the Sunshine Band Get down Tonight. It also has the added benefit that it is from the Fox News Channel which serves a dual purpose for the Liberals who can't seem to get a grip on the 1st admendment.
