Why reinvent the wheel when you can borrow one? I will write some Depression Era stories like Bobby Tony family articles.
And parallel this wonderful history article.
My parents grew up during the Depression and tell stories about never throwing things away. For one thing Boy's cover-alls could be passed down among the five brothers while the five sisters could wear dresses made from the various cotton prints on sacks of flour. The flour folks knew the fabric would become clothing and patterns were for sale.
The kids above are wearing sacks without prints.
