Zack and Miri Make a Porno

    "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" is the latest formula comedy from Director / Writer Kevin Smith starring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks. I must admit, there are some funny scenes; like when they are coming up with title for their prospective porno movie, but for the most part, there are a number of scenes that are shockingly crude.

    On the whole, I was not shocked by the shockingly crude scenes - it is a Kevin Smith movie. I'm just shocked that it was not any funnier than it was. Director Smith incorporated a number of his sidekicks from his previous pictures; Jeff Anderson, Jason Mewes. He even brought in veteran actress / veteran underage porn star Traci Lords, and her talents were totally wasted, and it wasn't because she didn't take her clothes off. It's just that the screenplay, also written by Kevin Smith, lacked any originality, let alone the irony of Traci Lords, who hasn't touched anything to do with porn in over 20 years, doing a movie about making a porno.

    For me the overall movie was a disappointment; however for others, it may be a decent comedy... especially if you're into porno.

    Rated R at 101 minutes of runtime. Released on DVD February 3, 2009.
